Welcome to Lifted Lamp, a blog authored by Benach and Thomas Ragland, immigration partners at Duane Morris.  The goal of this blog is to provide commentary, analysis and opinion regarding legal, political, economic and cultural issues surrounding immigration.  The title of this blog is taken from the last line  Emma Lazarus’ famous poem, The New Colossus, on the Statute of Liberty, “I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”  Do not expect this blog to be “fair and balanced.”  Rather, it is unabashedly and radically pro-immigrant and will continue to fight the restrictionists, the bigots, and the know-nothings.  Stay tuned . . .
