Karen’s interest in immigration stems from her family. Born in Mexico City and moving to the United States as an immigrant, her life mirrors those of so many of our clients. Karen also set a goal for herself to help every immigrant in any way she could. She started advocating for immigrant rights at a young age and was always willing to attend any event regarding immigration. Her activist work lead her to start her own campaign called DACA SIN MIEDO which educated young immigrant students on the opportunities they can have. A Minnesota native, she also had the opportunity to fly to DC with an awareness campaign called Fast for Families to tell her story and lobby to Congress about the importance of keeping families together.
She has been recognized of her activist work and her story was shared in her home town paper, the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Karen was also proud to be recognized in The Huffington Post list for 40 under 40 Latinos in politics.
Karen is currently studying at George Washington University as a political science major. She is fluent in Spanish.
